      Ore body description The Kiirunavaara ore body, as well as the other magnetite-apatite ores in the region, were deposited during the Svecokarelian orogeny (Billström et al., ) in the range of – Ga (Cliff et al., ). The ore body is large, sheet-like and extends approximately 4km along strike. Igneous rock is one of the three main rock types, the others being sedimentary and metamorphic rock.. Igneous rocks are rocks formed from molten material is made liquid by the heat inside the Earth's mantle.. When magma comes out onto the surface of the Earth, it is called cools down to form rocks such as tuff and basalt. Intrusive rocks are made when the magma slowly cools.

      Igneous rocks are classified on the basis of their composition and their texture. Magma, and the igneous rock it becomes, has a range of chemical example, basalt is a mafic lava flow rock which originates from melting of the upper mantle. The way that magma turns into a solid rock gives it a distinctive igneous texture. Kiruna is located in the north of Sweden, kilometres (90 mi) north of the Arctic circle. The city centre is built on the Haukavaara hill at an altitude of m, high above the Torne river to the north and the Kalix river to the south. Other parts of the town are Lombolo and Tuolluvaara. Near Kiruna are the mountains Kiirunavaara and Luossavaara. Kiirunavaara is an iron ore mine that is the town's Country: Sweden.
